Winter in Japan is starting to have aspects of Western Christmas, but the twinkling ✨ lights have always been a thing. While the displays can be big or small, at train stations or down city streets some are even bigger. You can find a list of many options to view illuminations on my homepage.

Tokyo German Village is one of the larger illuminations, on par with Oi Racecourse, Ashikage and Sagamihara. Unlike some of the other locations though there’s no easy access to get there using public transportation, though it is possible. There are also third party vendors that provide rides from train stations. It is however a great opportunity to take the Tokyo wan Aqua Line and get that GREAT photo op from Umihotaru.
Tokyo German Village is broken up into many smaller areas with themes dictating the lights and displays, not all of it holiday focused 😂

In addition to the lights there’s multiple food stalls selling everything from hot drinks to desserts.

There are plenty of seating in the eating areas as well public restrooms and nursing rooms for breastfeeding mons to get out of the cold 🥶.

On the outer edges of the property there’s a separate light display/garden that you can walk through making for great pics.

This is definitely a great all day excursion, with plenty of parking. Make sure to bring yen 💴 with you as the line for the ATM 🏧 can get long and not all the vendors take cards. If you forget there’s a conbini on the road into Tokyo German Village, it’s the last sign of civilization before you enter. Let me know in the comments what you thought if you go!
