Is that time again, time to go hunting for goshuin and if you’ve seen my post about the Seven Lucky Gods then you’ve seen this one in my office hanging up! This year I was finally tracking the shrines that do this event and so I was able to catch it early enough to get all the stamps and the special stamp that I was unable to get the previous time I did it. All in all it took us about three hours starting at the furthest shrine from Yokosuka, then we went to Hayama and finished in Uraga.
The How…
Unlike with Shichifukujin in Zushi or the Kamakura one, this will require you to have a car. While you COULD do it using local transportation it would probably take twice as long and is not recommended, unless you have no other options

Two of the three shrines have paid parking on site with the last shrine having convenience store (conbini) parking nearby. Both shrines also have paid parking if your car can’t make the narrow turn (Kainan) or the lot is full and you’re unable to park in the shrine parking lots (Morito).
There’s no shikishi (stamp board) for this pilgrimage but do keep the flyer with you throughout as that’s how they know you’ve visited all three sites. There’s no requirement to start at a particular shrine so you can do it in any order you choose.

The when…
The pilgrimage started on the 20th of this month and goes until they run out of supplies. They normally run out of the special goshuin before the others so don’t wait too long.
If you’re a collector of goshuin be sure to follow @kainanjinjya.official on IG as they have a special stamp only available on certain days of each month!!

Year of the dragon seal and days available
The why…
As always, because it’s fun! This is a great way to spend an afternoon with friends or with family. It gives you the opportunity to get outside and see a part of our prefecture that you may have never visited, it also let you find places that you might want to come back to. No matter the reason it’s a great chance to get out and explore and getting those steps
Extras…
If you’re collecting goshuin we saw that Kainan Shrine also has a Dragon Ball pilgrimage going on and you can collect charms at each site.

There was also a bracelet you could purchase and travel to more than 30 sites getting the stamp branded into the leather band

No matter what option you choose, it will for sure get you out of the house!!
Come back and let me know in the comments if you bought any extra goshuin or charms and follow and share!!
